Prof. Thiongo holds a Doctorate in Biochemistry, Masters of Science degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Education in Science. He has been involved in development of academic programmes and has academic honors from ‘who is who in science and engineering in the world, 2001’, Association of Commonwealth Staff Scholarship, August-December 1999 and Teaching Assistants’ awards from Kenyatta University, 1982-1988. He has served in various teaching and lecturing roles and has been a Chairman at the University, Board of the Institute of Environment and Energy Technology.  He has a list of 35 publications, 6 innovations and 16 conference papers.  He is part of JKUAT consultancy team on development of a strategic plan for transformation of KPLC training school.
