Welcome to the KIRDI I.C.T. INCUBATION program
Objectives of the program
The KIRDI ICT Incubation program addresses the key issues of entrepreneurial culture in the region, especially in regard to facilitating creation of enterprise start-ups ; micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME), provide handholding support till the enterprise matures before moving out of the Incubation. It will support and help :
- Develop profitable enterprises
- Commercialize development of products and services
- Provide networking business facilitation support
- Create jobs
- Raise the awareness for potential entrepreneurs to join the incubation center.
Following a tie up with Kamtech Associates Pvt. Ltd., an Indian leading IT and software development company, KIRDI has launched established ICT incubation program in November 2008 and has set up ICT Incubation center. The primary objectives of the program are to create more jobs through entrepreneur and small business development and support, to achieve success through coordinating the different efforts so as to reduce duplication and to increase know-how and knowledge through the following activities:
- Incubation and Business Development: Pre-incubation services
- Incubation and Business Development: Training in entrepreneurship and business development management
- IT and Software engineering technical competence training by Indian experts
- Incubation and Business Development: Mentoring/coaching
- Link entrepreneurs and start-up companies to technical and administrative know-how and financing.
- Encourage networking and commercial partnership among the incubates locally, regionally and internationally.
- Promote and support valuing and commercializing of the incubates products and services offering.
- Networks and Synergy: Facilitation of linkages between incubates
- Networks and Synergy: Networking events
- Networks and Synergy: Referrals to business professionals
- Technology Transfer: Help with intellectual property/patent advice
Activities and work plan
The project activities (capacity building and incubation) will cover 1 year. At the end of the two years, 100 entrepreneurs will have been established.
A. Capacity building
Provide two weeks orientation, two weeks entrepreneurial training, two weeks startup business management training and two weeks real time business training. There will be a total 224 days of training. The training will be implemented in quarters starting from September 2008.
In each quarter:
i. 25 graduates of ICT will be recruited by KIRDI
ii. The 25 graduates will undergo an eight-week training offered by Kamtech Associates Pvt. Ltd ( India)
iii. The training program has been designed specifically to train them become IT entrepreneurs.
iv. After completing 8 weeks training they will further take 4 weeks training in India at Kamtech KPO park experiencing real life project implementations
v. The graduates, after the weeks will undertake a further 2 weeks business development training ending up with a business plan. Kamtech Associates Pvt Ltd will impart this training and ensure the trainees prepare business development plan for startup
vi. After 12 months the entrepreneurs will move out from the incubator to their own spaces and carry on the business successfully outside the incubator.
vii. Next batch of 25 entrepreneurs will be admitted to the incubation program after three months thus in first year a total of 100 incubatees are admitted and 75 are put to incubation.
B. Software technology business incubation
i. The 25 entrepreneurs will be admitted to the IT/ITES/ICT incubation programme and helped to set up, manage and grow their enterprises.
ii. KIRDI in collaboration with Kamtech Associates Pvt. Ltd will provide hand holding support by way of common facilitations and common marketing for a period of 8 months, thereafter helping them establish their respective business and start.
