Chemical Engineering Division
The division deals in the research and development of processes that convert raw materials into intermediate and finished products (value addition).
Mission
To develop processes for new/ improved value added products from local materials and transfer of developed technologies in commodity and speciality chemicals.
Vision
To be a centre of excellence for industrial research and development in chemical engineering and allied processes.
Objectives
- To design processes that ensures the most economical operation for technology transfer.
- To enhance growth of its staff through capacity building and mentorship programs.
Capacity building programs
Ø Extraction of essential oils, gum resin and oils from oil seeds.
Ø Technology for the manufacture of soaps, detergents and other hygiene products.
Ø Technology for the manufacture of cosmetic products including body creams, lotions & hair products.
Ø Alcohol production technology.
Ø Technology for the processing of wood and metal varnish.
Ø Aloe gel extraction and juice.
Ø Technology for formulation of animal feeds.
